Star Wars Lore — A Concise Guide
This page gives you the most important Star Wars lore in readable form: the Force, the great factions, the eras of the galaxy — linked to deeper guides.
The Force
The Force is the energy field that binds the Star Wars universe. It is classically divided into the Light Side (harmony, self-discipline) and the Dark Side (emotion, domination). Jedi seek balance, Sith seek power through passion. A rarer third perspective — the path between the sides — is embodied by figures such as Ahsoka Tano and parts of the Gray Jedi tradition.
For the detailed difference between Jedi and Sith doctrine, see the Jedi vs. Sith Guide.
