Kessel Run

Definition

The Kessel Run is a dangerous smuggling route near Kessel. Han Solo famously boasts that the Millennium Falcon made it in less than twelve parsecs.

What does parsecs mean?

A parsec is a unit of distance, not time. Solo: A Star Wars Story explains the line by showing Han take a risky shortcut through dangerous space phenomena.

Role in Solo

In the film, Han, Chewbacca, Qi’ra and Lando fly coaxium away from Kessel. The run proves both Han’s piloting skill and why the Falcon becomes legendary.

Why it matters

The Kessel Run is one of Star Wars’ most famous lines — and a good example of later stories turning an old quote into new lore.
