Jedi High Council

Profile

The Jedi High Council is the most visible leadership body of the Jedi Order. Twelve Masters meet in a chamber at the top of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant to decide missions, admissions, and galactic crises.

Function

• Strategic leadership for the Order and its outposts.
• Training and admission decisions, including Anakin Skywalker.
• Advice to the Republic, Senate, and Chancellor on security issues.

Why it matters

The Council embodies the tension between tradition and politics. Its closeness to the Republic makes it relevant in the Clone Wars and vulnerable to Sidious.
