Battle of Scarif

Definition

The Battle of Scarif is the Rebels’ desperate attack on the Imperial data vault to steal the Death Star plans.

Context

Rogue One ends directly before Episode IV: Jyn Erso, Cassian Andor and Rogue One open the path for Leia’s mission and Luke’s later shot against the Death Star.

Why it matters

Scarif turns one line from the original trilogy into a full war story. The battle shows that the victory at Yavin rests on many sacrifices, both named and unnamed.
