The Death Star was a moon-sized battle station built by the Galactic Empire, capable of destroying an entire planet with its superlaser. It was designed to maintain order through fear.

History

Originally designed on Geonosis and later completed under the supervision of Director Krennic and Grand Moff Tarkin, the first Death Star was destroyed by Luke Skywalker in the Battle of Yavin (Episode IV). A second, even larger Death Star was constructed over the forest moon of Endor and was destroyed during the Battle of Endor (Episode VI).
