Resistance

Definition

The Resistance is the paramilitary organisation founded by General Leia Organa because the New Republic deliberately ignores the threat of the First Order.

Structure

Small, mobile, well-connected. Bases on D’Qar and later Crait. Fleet: X-Wings, B-Wings, older A-Wings, a few refitted bombers.

Political reality

The New Republic refuses to start a new war — so Leia operates unofficially. Real political backing only arrives after Hosnian Prime is destroyed by Starkiller Base in Episode VII — too late.

Why it matters

The Resistance is the mini-Rebellion of the sequel era: old veterans plus new heroes against a resurgent Empire. The lesson: every generation has to build its own rebellion.
