Path of the Open Hand
Reading time: 5 min
Definition
The Path of the Open Hand is a Force-focused sect from the early High Republic. Its followers reject direct use of the Force, believing that any attempt to use it disturbs the galaxy’s balance.
Context
The Path is dangerous because it does not appear as an open military threat. It offers a religious counter-model to the Jedi Order, places pressure on Force users and fuels a High Republic conflict that becomes surprisingly personal for the Jedi.
Why it matters
The Path shows that Force discourse in Star Wars is not only Jedi versus Sith. Religious movements, cultural suspicion of the Jedi and later currents such as The Acolyte or Force skeptics in the Skywalker saga clearly trace back to this kind of belief.
