Reading time: 5 min
Definition
Force telekinesis is the ability to move objects and people through the Force without touching them. It is the most visible Force technique on screen, from lifting a lightsaber to holding a TIE fighter in mid-air.
Common uses
- Defense: deflecting projectiles, pushing enemies back, pulling people closer.
- Mobility: cushioning falls, stopping landslides, opening heavy doors.
- Diplomacy: twisting a weapon out of a hand without firing a shot.
Famous users
Yoda lifts Luke’s X-Wing, Vader chokes officers from across the room, Rey rips a lightsaber out of the snow. Untrained Force-sensitives like Ezra Bridger and Grogu also start with telekinesis.
