Crimson Dawn

Definition

Crimson Dawn is a powerful crime syndicate operating in the Imperial underworld. On the surface it looks like a network of smugglers, extortionists and informants; behind it stand figures such as Maul and later Qi’ra.

Context

Crimson Dawn fills the gap between official politics and street-level power. While the Empire and Rebellion fight over systems, the syndicate controls contacts, debts and shadow routes.

Why it matters

The syndicate makes the Star Wars underworld easier to map: Han Solo, Lando, Maul and Qi’ra are not isolated players but part of a wider criminal ecosystem.
