Crait is a mineral-rich salt world in the Outer Rim and the site of the final confrontation in Episode VIII – The Last Jedi. Beneath its white salt crust is a red crystalline layer that turns every movement into a visual scar.

What happens

• The last members of the Resistance hide in an old Rebel base on Crait.
• The First Order deploys AT-M6 walkers and a battering-ram cannon to breach the gate.
• Luke Skywalker projects himself across the galaxy and stalls Kylo Ren in a duel.
• The Resistance escapes through crystal tunnels, helped by Rey and the Millennium Falcon.

Why it matters

Crait turns Luke Skywalker fully into legend. The image of one Jedi standing against an army spreads across the galaxy and gives the sequel trilogy its spark of hope before Episode IX.

Aftermath

• Luke becomes one with the Force.
• The Resistance survives with only a handful of members, but gains moral momentum.
• Crait becomes a symbol of rebellion returning.
