Lightsaber Colors – What Do They Mean?
Summary: Blue and Green dominate the Jedi Order, Red marks bled Sith crystals, White stands for purified crystals, and the Darksaber is a unique Mandalorian case. Find the complete breakdown including wielders and Kyber background in the Lightsaber Colors Guide.
| Color | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Blue | Classic Guardians, front-line fighters. |
| Green | Diplomats, Consulars, experienced Jedi. |
| Purple | Rare; closely associated with Mace Windu. |
| Yellow | Jedi Temple Guards and Sentinels. |
| White | Purified Kyber crystal (e.g., Ahsoka after her departure). |
| Red | Sith and Dark Side users – achieved by "bleeding" the crystal. |
| Dark Gray / Black | Darksaber – Mandalorian symbol; only one exists in canon. |
Color logic is based on canon sources; rare exceptions exist in comics and novels.
Why the Rule of Two?
After millennia of Sith Wars, Darth Bane established the "Rule of Two": always only one Master and one Apprentice. The goal was to end internal infighting and allow the Sith to operate effectively in the shadows. Palpatine and his apprentices (Maul, Dooku, Vader) are the prime examples of this doctrine.
