Whills explained

Definition

The Whills are an old Force concept from George Lucas’s notes. They do not appear openly in the films but are referenced in texts such as the Journal of the Whills.

Link to Rogue One

Chirrut Imwe and the Guardians of the Whills on Jedha worship the Force as a religious mystery. They show a faith in the Force without Jedi status.

Why it matters

The Whills remind us that the Force is larger than the Jedi Order. They offer meaning, identity and hope even where the Republic falls apart.
