Twi'leks

Profile

Twi’leks are humanoids from Ryloth with two lekku, the head-tails that carry language, body signals and cultural identity.

Key figures

• Hera Syndulla: Ghost pilot and New Republic general.
• Aayla Secura: Jedi Master of the Clone Wars.
• Cham Syndulla: Freedom fighter of Ryloth.
• Bib Fortuna: Jabba’s aide and underworld administrator.

Culture and conflict

Ryloth is a case study in occupation: Separatists, Empire and local collaborators fight over resources while Twi’lek cells defend their home.

Why they matter

Twi’leks connect Jedi myth, rebellion and underworld. They show how Star Wars can move a species beyond stereotypes and recenter it through characters like Hera.
