Starkiller Base

Profile

Starkiller Base was a mobile ice planet superweapon built by the First Order from the remains of the planet Ilum. It consumed the energy of entire stars to fire beams that could destroy entire star systems across the galaxy.

History

In 34 ABY, the base fired upon the Hosnian system, completely vaporizing the capital and fleet of the New Republic in one strike. Shortly after, the Resistance launched an assault. A sabotage team disabled the shields, allowing Poe Dameron’s starfighters to destroy the weapon’s thermal oscillator. The contained stellar energy was unleashed, and the planet collapsed into a new star.
