Operation Cinder

Definition

Operation Cinder is Palpatine’s revenge plan after his death at Endor. Imperial satellites, fleet orders and loyalists were meant to devastate worlds so a failed Empire could not simply continue without him.

Context

The plan reveals Palpatine’s logic: if he cannot control the galaxy, nobody else should inherit it intact. Cinder weakens the Empire, pushes survivors into more radical factions and sets up the road to Jakku.

Why it matters

Operation Cinder makes the gap between Episode VI and the New Republic easier to understand. It explains why Imperial remnants do not become a normal government-in-exile.
