The New Republic

Profile

The New Republic was the democratic government established by the Rebel Alliance following their victory at Endor and the collapse of the Galactic Empire.

History

Mon Mothma served as its first Chancellor, and the capital initially rotated among member worlds like Chandrila and Hosnian Prime. While it formally ended the Empire with a peace treaty, the new government struggled with massive demilitarization, factional politics, and bureaucratic inefficiency. It tragically underestimated the threat of the rising First Order in the Unknown Regions, which culminated in the destruction of the Hosnian system by Starkiller Base (34 ABY).
