Kashyyyk

Overview

Kashyyyk is the Wookiee homeworld: a forest planet with gigantic wroshyr trees, coastal cities and a long warrior culture. During the Clone Wars, Kashyyyk becomes a major Republic battlefield — and shortly afterwards a site of Order 66.

Geography

Massive wroshyr trees, dense forests, coastal fortifications and broad waters define Kashyyyk. The Wookiees build their cities into the canopy, along beaches and in hidden caves, mixing technology with traditional martial heritage.

Clone Wars

In Episode III, Yoda leads Republic forces against Separatist invasions on Kashyyyk. He experiences Order 66 here and only survives thanks to the Wookiees, which sets up his exile on Dagobah.

Empire

After the Clone Wars, the Empire occupies Kashyyyk and enslaves Wookiees. Chewbacca and other Wookiees become central figures in the Rebellion, with later coverage in Solo, Andor, The Bad Batch and comics.

Significance

Kashyyyk connects Jedi heroism, colonial violence and rebel heritage. As Chewbacca’s homeworld, it also carries the emotional history of the Han Solo line of the saga.
