K-2SO is a reprogrammed Imperial security droid who works with Cassian Andor and the Rebellion. His dry honesty makes him one of the most beloved characters from Rogue One.

Context

K-2SO connects Imperial control with Rebel hacking: a tool of occupation is turned against the Empire. That makes Cassian’s work feel more technical and dangerous, not just heroic.

Why it matters

The droid gives Rogue One humor, but also tragedy. He shows that the Rebellion is built from improvised teams: spies, pilots, former enemies and machines used in ways the Empire never intended.
