Force lightning

Definition

Force lightning is a destructive Sith technique: raw dark-side energy released from the hands, causing pain, paralysis or death.

Character of the power

• Speed: it answers directly to anger and fear — that is the appeal.
• Cost: prolonged use leaves visible decay (yellow eyes, broken voice, gaunt face).
• Defense: a lightsaber or Force shield can absorb or redirect a bolt.

Famous users

Palpatine uses it against Mace Windu and Luke. Dooku uses it against Yoda and Anakin. Rey shows an uncontrolled flash in The Rise of Skywalker. In the Andor era the power is nearly mythological, which makes it more terrifying.
