Drengir

Definition

The Drengir are a plant-based, predatory species from the High Republic era. They spread across worlds like a fungal network, hunt living beings and share an uncanny, organic link with the dark side of the Force.

Context

The Drengir are an unusual threat because they are neither Sith nor classic raiders. They push the Jedi Order, Hutt cartels and Republic forces into reluctant alliances, because no single faction can contain their growth alone.

Why it matters

The Drengir open Star Wars to horror and ecological themes. They show how the High Republic offers new sub-genres beyond politics and war: a galactic uncanny that grows inside the Outer Rim itself.
