Coruscant Underworld

Definition

The Coruscant Underworld consists of lower city levels beneath the shiny Senate and Jedi districts. The deeper people live, the less visible the Republic becomes.

Role in the saga

Bounty hunters, smugglers, workers and political losers reveal the capital’s shadow side. Ahsoka’s escape in The Clone Wars uses these levels especially well.

Why it matters

The underworld proves that even the Republic’s center contains inequality, crime and distrust — the cracks Palpatine exploits.
