The Battle of Hoth (3 ABY) was a major defeat for the Rebel Alliance against the Galactic Empire, occurring when Imperial forces discovered and assaulted the secret Echo Base on the ice planet Hoth.

Events

After an Imperial probe droid located the base, Darth Vader’s Death Squadron attacked the system. Imperial AT-AT walkers, commanded by General Veers, breached the shield generator and captured the base. However, the majority of the Rebel high command narrowly escaped thanks to a delaying action by snowspeeders and the planetary ion cannon.
