Profile

The Battle of Coruscant (19 BBY) is the final battle of the Clone Wars. General Grievous abducts Chancellor Palpatine from the heart of the Republic. Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi infiltrate Grievous flagship Invisible Hand.

In orbit

Republic and Separatist fleets shred each other above Coruscant. ARC-170s, V-Wings, Jedi starfighters and Tri-Fighters fight through wrecked Star Destroyers.

On board Invisible Hand

Anakin and Obi-Wan face Count Dooku in the audience chamber. On Palpatines order Anakin executes the disarmed Sith — the first clear break on Anakins road to the dark side.

Aftermath

• Grievous escapes to Utapau and is killed by Obi-Wan shortly afterwards.
• Order 66 is triggered immediately after the battle.
• Palpatine proclaims the Empire.

Why it matters

The battle shows the last point at which Anakin and Obi-Wan still fight side by side. What works here as a duo breaks apart for good on Mustafar.
