Bacta explained

Definition

Bacta is a healing fluid used in tanks or bandages to treat severe injuries. It is one of Star Wars’ most recognizable medical technologies.

Famous scenes

Luke recovers in a bacta tank after Hoth. Darth Vader and Boba Fett are also associated with bacta baths used to ease pain and old wounds.

Importance

Bacta makes the saga’s war setting tangible: even futuristic medicine cannot simply erase trauma, scars and the consequences of violence.
