Slave I

Reading time: 4 min

Overview

Slave I is the personal starship of Jango Fett and later Boba Fett. A heavily modified Firespray-31-class patrol craft, originally built as a prison transport on Oovo IV, it has become one of the most recognizable bounty-hunter ships in the galaxy.

Specifications

  • Length: 21 m
  • Crew: 1 pilot + cargo / prisoner bay
  • Armament: twin blaster cannons, projectile launchers, ion cannon, proton torpedoes, seismic charges (Jango’s signature)
  • Special: vertical flight orientation, sublight thrusters in the “wing” plane

History

Jango Fett stole and modified an original Firespray prototype and used it for decades of bounty work, including the chase over Geonosis where Obi-Wan Kenobi first encountered it.

Boba inherited the ship at age ten and rebuilt it over years of solo work — most famously to deliver Han Solo, frozen in carbonite, from Bespin to Jabba on Tatooine.

Renaming

In The Book of Boba Fett and later canon, Boba’s ship is often referred to as simply Boba Fett’s starship to step away from the original name. The Firespray-31 silhouette remains unchanged.

Why it matters

Slave I is the single ship that visually defines the bounty hunter as a profession — and ties together Jango, Boba and the entire chain of The Mandalorian era.
