Slave I
Profile
Slave I is the legendary starship of the notorious bounty hunter Boba Fett. Originally piloted by his father Jango Fett, the modified Firespray-31-class patrol craft has been in the Fett family for generations. Its distinctive solar-array silhouette and asymmetric vertical-flight profile make Slave I one of the most recognisable ships in the galaxy.
Technical Specifications
The Firespray-31 was originally a Kuat Systems Engineering patrol vessel. Jango and later Boba added heavy modifications:
- Twin blaster cannons and laser cannons.
- A concussion-missile launcher.
- Tractor-beam projector for hauling captured fugitives.
- Carbonite freezing chamber for safer transport of high-value bounties.
- Class 1.0 hyperdrive backed up by an emergency Class 2 unit.
Famous Missions
Slave I appears in some of the saga’s most pivotal moments:
- Tracking the Millennium Falcon — Boba Fett used Slave I to shadow the Falcon to Cloud City.
- Delivering Han Solo — Slave I transported the frozen Han Solo to Jabba the Hutt on Tatooine.
- The Mandalorian — Boba Fett later recovered the ship and used it for missions around Tatooine.
Cultural Impact
Slave I is one of the most iconic non-Imperial vessels in Star Wars. Its sideways flight pose, asymmetric design and ominous silhouette have inspired countless model kits, video-game appearances and merchandise. Disney later renamed it “Boba Fett’s Starship” in marketing, but among fans it remains Slave I.
