Design

The AT-ATs were developed for frontline combat against ground forces. Their height gave them an enormous tactical advantage, and their armor made them practically insensitive to light weapons.

Notable Deployments

Battle of Hoth

The most iconic scene with AT-ATs: Imperial stormtroopers attacked Echo Base. Luke Skywalker used his harpoon as a springboard to perforate the AT-AT’s leg and bring it down with a tow cable.

Battle of Endor

AT-ATs were also deployed at the Battle of Endor, accompanying ground forces in their attack on the Rebel bunkers.
