Takodana

Profile

Takodana is a green forest-and-lake world in the Mid Rim. On an island in the middle of one of its large lakes stands the castle of Maz Kanata — a neutral meeting place for smugglers, mercenaries and heroes between the factions.

Maz’s castle

The castle predates the Empire. Banners of hundreds of crews hang in the hall, and the basement holds artifacts — including the lightsaber of Anakin and Luke Skywalker, which Rey finds here and which is heard for the first time since Bespin.

Battle of Takodana

The First Order attacks the castle while Finn, Rey and BB-8 are there. Han Solo, Chewbacca and Maz hold the perimeter until Resistance X-wings under Poe Dameron end the assault.

Why it matters

Takodana is the world where Rey moves from scavenger to hero of the sequel trilogy — a single lake, a single lightsaber, a single call through the Force.
