Kamino

Overview

Kamino is the storm-drenched ocean homeworld of the Kaminoans — the tall, long-necked species that bred the entire clone army on the Republic’s order (in truth, Palpatine’s).

Geography

A constant storm belt covers the ocean planet; every city is a stilted platform complex. Tipoca City, the capital, is a clone production complex with growth tubes, training hangars, and the galaxy’s largest genetic laboratories.

The Clone Army

Commissioned by “Master Sifo-Dyas” — actually Palpatine’s manipulation — the Kaminoans grew a million clone troopers from Jango Fett’s DNA. Episode II begins with Obi-Wan’s discovery of this secret order.

Order 66 and After the Clone Wars

The clones were fitted with behavior chips that triggered Order 66. After the Clone Wars the Empire liquidated the clone program and destroyed the Tipoca facilities — events depicted in “The Bad Batch.”

Kaminoan Culture

The Kaminoans hide emotion but take pride in their genetic precision. They maintain relationships with few external powers and observe the galaxy through a very curated lens.
