Coruscant

Overview

Coruscant is the city planet at the core of the galaxy and served as the capital world of the Galactic Republic, the Galactic Empire, and later the First Order.

Geography

The entire surface of Coruscant is covered by a gigantic city – layer upon layer of buildings extending kilometers into the sky and kilometers below the surface. The upper levels are reserved for the rich and powerful, while the lower levels – the Underworld – are characterized by crime and poverty.

Senatorial Glory

At the center of Coruscant was the Galactic Senate Building, where thousands of senators directed the affairs of the Republic. The Jedi Convent at the foot of the Senate Building was the central training facility for the Jedi Knights.

The Jedi Temple

The Jedi Temple was the spiritual heart of the Jedi Order. It stretched across the entire top of the Senatorial Hill and housed the Great Assembly Hall, the Jedi Library, and countless training rooms.
