Alderaan

Overview

Alderaan was a terrestrial planet in the Alderaan system and the homeworld of Princess Leia Organa and Senator Bail Organa. It was destroyed by the Empire’s Death Star.

History

Alderaan was considered one of the most beautiful and culturally significant planets in the galaxy. Its capital was Neoen-Optur, and the Alderaanian people were known for their art, music, and pacifism.

The Destruction

Shortly after the Battle of Scarif, Grand Moff Tarkin ordered the destruction of Alderaan using the Death Star. He wanted to deter the Rebels who were believed to be sheltering on the planet. Leia Organa, herself an Alderaanian, was forced to watch the destruction of her homeland.

Legacy

Although physically destroyed, Alderaan lives on in the hearts of those who continued the rebellion. Princess Leia and General Han Solo (Liberator of Endor) carried Alderaan’s legacy within them.
