AT-ST Scout Walker
Profile
The AT-ST Scout Walker, English abbreviation for “All Terrain Scout Transport,” is one of the most characteristic vehicles of the Galactic Empire and gained notoriety in “Return of the Jedi” when it patrolled the forest moon Endor. Lego Set 75109 from 2015 captured this two-legged scout vehicle with impressive accuracy and offered 762 pieces from which an approximately 25 centimeter high and 20 centimeter long Walker was created. With two minifigures, including the notorious bounty hunter Cad Bane, this set promises both action-packed play fun and visual collection value.
Highlights
The AT-ST Walker features an innovative leg mechanism that actually mimics the characteristic waddle of the original template. The cockpit unit is fully rotatable and accommodates one minifigure, while the leg section impresses with amazing mobility. The cannons on both sides of the Walker are swivelable and feature a simple spring mechanism system that enables impressive battle scenes. The use of dark color elements and the oxidized metal look give the model an additional dose of authenticity that makes every Star Wars fan’s heart beat faster.
Detailed Information
The set was developed by Lego’s designers with great attention to detail and is strongly based on the film template from the original trilogy. The building blocks used are made in the usual Lego quality and guarantee play-friendly assembly that is also accessible to younger builders from eight years old. The included building instructions are clearly laid out and guide through all building phases with understandable graphics. Particularly noteworthy is the clever integration of the movable joints, which do without external Technic elements and yet guarantee permanent functionality. The total weight of the set is despite its considerable size easy to handle and facilitates moving and displaying.
Rating
Overall, the AT-ST set 75109 deserves a positive rating, focusing primarily on the successful implementation of the cinematic template. The high replay value comes from the movable elements and the compatibility with other Star Wars sets that open up endless possibilities for creative combinations. Criticism is limited minifigure count, which is however partially offset by the high-quality design of the existing figures. The price of under 90 euros positions the set in the mid-range segment and makes it an attractive entry point for Star Wars Lego enthusiasts who don’t yet have a Walker in their collection.
For Collectors
Collectors appreciate the AT-ST Walker above all because of its compact size, which makes it ideal for display in display cases without taking up too much space. The figure of Cad Bane alone is reason enough to purchase the set, as this Mandalorian is not included in many other Lego sets. The level of detail of the model allows it to look good even when viewed up close and to admire the finer points of Imperial vehicle technology. Combined with an AT-AT or the Endor set, an impressive diorama landscape is created that impressively represents the Imperial territory.
