Solo – A Star Wars Story

Plot

Solo shows the early adventures of Han Solo – how he evolved from an orphan on Corellia to the most famous smuggler in the galaxy. His first encounter with Chewbacca, winning the Millennium Falcon, and his job for gangster boss Jabba the Hutt are all told.

• Han Solo – The young smuggler, still without a reputation
• Chewbacca – The loyal Wookiee, Han’s lifelong partner
• Qi’ra – Han’s former love, working for Dryden Vance
• Lando Calrissian – The unlucky card player who loses the Falcon to Han
• Beckett – The criminal boss who gives Han a chance
• Dryden Vance – The gangster boss in whose service Qi’ra stands
• Darth Maul – The mysterious Sith Lord pulling strings in the background

The Kessel Run

The most spectacular train heist in film history – a raid on a train where Han and Chewie win the famous smuggling ship.

The Millennium Falcon

Han wins the Falcon in a card game from Lando Calrissian. But the famous “Kessel run” (which Lando helped cheat) turns out to be the Cloud Services version – Han later has to save the ship.

The Twist at the End

The final twist: Qi’ra works for Darth Maul – a surprising crossover that shows the Shadow Collective is still active.

Cultural Significance

Solo was disappointing at the box office – but the film has loyal fans. The portrayal of Han Solo’s origin was respectful towards the original character.
