Rogue One – A Star Wars Story

Plot

Rogue One tells the story of the Rebellion immediately before Episode IV. Jyn Erso, a rebellious orphan, is recruited by the Resistance when it becomes clear that her father Galen Erso – a scientist – has sabotaged the Death Star’s construction plans.

Jyn leads a makeshift group of Rebels to the secret Imperial facility on Scarif, where the plans are hidden. The mission seems impossible at first – but the Rebels sacrifice everything.

The Sacrifice

The entire Rogue One crew dies in the battle – as their last heroic act, they transmit the plans to the Rebel fleet. “The bats are with you.” Admiral Raddus transmits the plans to Princess Leia.

Cultural Significance

Rogue One was the first Star Wars “Story” film – an experiment that thrilled fans worldwide. The death scene of the main characters was bold and emotional.

The Iconic Finale

The image of the two last survivors, holding hands, walking into the wave, is one of the most emotional moments of the entire saga.
