Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones
Plot
Ten years after the invasion of Naboo, the galaxy is on the brink of civil war. A separatist movement led by Count Dooku threatens the Republic.
Senator Padmé Amidala of Naboo narrowly escapes an assassination attempt and is placed under the protection of Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi and his Padawan Anakin Skywalker.
Obi-Wan investigates the attempt on Padmé’s life and discovers a secret clone army being created on Kamino. Anakin is assigned to escort Padmé to Naboo, where their mutual feelings grow.
The Separatist Movement
Count Dooku, formerly Jedi Master Dooku, leads a movement of star systems seeking to leave the Republic. This sets the stage for the Clone Wars.
The Clone Army
Obi-Wan discovers that the Republic has been secretly preparing a clone army on Kamino for almost a decade. These clones will become the army of the Republic.
Anakin’s Fall Begins
Assigned to protect Padmé, Anakin is haunted by visions of his mother Shmi. He travels to Tatooine only to find her dying, leading to his first steps toward the dark side.
Legacy
Attack of the Clones launched the Clone Wars era and deepened the tragic arc of Anakin Skywalker’s fall to the dark side.
