Empire Strikes Back 45th Anniversary

Profile

The 45-year anniversary of arguably the best Star Wars film ever made (original release: 21 May 1980).

What’s happening

Lucasfilm and Disney+ unlock classic behind-the-scenes content. Cinematheques schedule 70mm screenings where licensing allows.

Tip

If you have never seen ESB on a big canvas: 2025/2026 is likely the last 70mm wave before the 50-year anniversary in 2030.
